When kids get a little too old and a little too bored by Bob the Builder, they might be ready to move on to this very entertaining set from Transformers. In robot form, Landmine looks much like any other gigantic robot warrior, though perhaps a bit more fond of the color "construction yellow" than most of his mechanical compadres. But after the inevitable transformation occurs, he becomes a heavy-duty construction vehicle featuring a crane and a winch with hand crank. Unlike most construction rigs, however, Landmine also features a rear section that converts to a gunnery station and fires a spring-loaded missile. The big tractor treads on Landmine are immobile but the wheels turn, getting the rig where it needs to go, although not at any blazing speed. We were impressed with the "rescue" pretend-play possibilities presented by the crane and winch and the ease of transformation from robot to truck. --Charlie Williams
